The Old Depot Gallery, Red House Studio, the Black Mountain Center for the Arts, and White Horse Black Mountain exemplify Black Mountain’s dedication to craft and culture.
- Feast at one of Black Mountain’s 35 restaurants, and sample a beer and spirits at the following: Black Mountain Brewing, Lookout Brewing, Oak & Grist Distillery, Pisgah Brewery.
- A sweet tooth can be satisfied at” Hey-Hey” Cupcakes, or Kilwins Chocolate, Fudge and Ice Cream.
- Since the early 1800s, Black Mountain and the Swannanoa Valley have been hosting travelers in the Swannanoa Valley. David Crockett fell in love with his first wife Elizabeth Patton in the Swannanoa Settlement in 1815. If you are a history buff, check out the amazing Swannanoa Valley Museum and History Center.
- Black Mountain Golf Course offers a superb 18-hole game with a par 6@747 yards. Designed by Donald Ross, the course is set against wooded hillsides and a small meandering creek. Coordinate tee times: 828-669-2710.
- Black Mountain is home to numerous conference centers and retreats including Ridgecrest, Blue Ridge Assembly, The Cove, Montreat, Christmount, Blossom & Be Wellness Center, and The Light Center.
- Black Mountain is known for its Bed & Breakfast innkeepers at the Red Rocker Inn, Inn Around the Corner, Inn on Mill Creek.
- Only two miles away is Montreat, the former home of the Rev. Billy Graham, The Montreat Conference Center, Montreat College and the Town of Montreat. A Ben Long Fresco can be viewed at the Chapel of the Prodigal on the Montreat College campus, stay at the William Black Lodge and visit the Ten Thousand Villages fair trade store near Lake Susan.

- The Blue Ridge Parkway found just nine miles west along Highway 70 is the most visited scenic highway in America.
- Mt. Mitchell, accessible from the Blue Ridge Parkway, is the tallest mountain in the Eastern U.S. and hosts the Annual Black Mountain Marathon and Mount Mitchell Challenge. The 40 mile race is held the last weekend of February. It is one of the toughest races in the USA.
- Biltmore Estate in Asheville, is just 15 minutes away.
- There are plenty of other wonderful experiences within a short drive of Black Mountain as well. The Omni Grove Park Inn, with the huge fireplaces burning. Stroll through the miles of trails at the North Carolina Arboretum. Learn all about the forestry system at the Cradle of the Forestry. Downtown Asheville, filled with galleries and upscale stores, can be discovered along the unique 1.7 mile Urban Trail, examining wonderful architecture and bronze sculpture while following simple arrows and directions.
- Just 30 minutes southeast of Black Mountain is scenic Lake Lure and Chimney Rock Park . with hiking trails, waterfalls, and wonderful scenery. Check out the movies Last of the Mahicans and Dirty Dancing which were filmed there.
Make your first stop at the Black Mountain Swannanoa Chamber of Commerce Visitor Center with the “Big Red Rocking Chair” out front, at 201 East State Street.
